Almost nobody leaves Buffer because the product is bad. They leave because the bill grows with every channel — $5 a month each on Essentials, so the eighth account costs as much as the first. These are the tools worth moving to, ordered by how well they solve that specific problem.
Worth knowing: Ranked on cost at eight connected channels, since that is the number where Buffer's pricing starts to hurt, then on whether publishing is native rather than a reminder.
Per workspace, not per channel: eight channels is €9.99 a month against roughly $40 on Buffer Essentials. Ten networks, all published natively. No approval workflow and no social inbox, so it is a narrower tool than Buffer in exchange.
The same ten networks, $29 a month for five accounts. Further along than we are and with an API on higher tiers, but no free plan to try it on.
The closest thing to a like-for-like Buffer replacement, and its free tier is better. It also prices per account, though, so at scale you are solving the same problem again a year later.
Worth it if half your reason for opening Buffer was the analytics tab. Scheduling is the smaller half of what you are paying for.
Open source. Free if you self-host, $29 a month for five channels if you do not, and 30+ networks either way — far more surface area than Buffer.
Several. Publer's free tier gives three accounts, Metricool's gives one brand, and Eurekuh's gives two channels and 15 posts a month. Postiz is free outright if you self-host it. Buffer's own free plan covers three channels, so if that is all you need, staying put is a reasonable answer.
Publer. If what you want is Buffer with a different bill, that is the shortest adjustment.
